What I Learned From a Pro Skater Who Sleeps In a Bus.
When living in Southern California, you bump into some pretty interesting people. One day while skating in Venice Beach, I literally bumped into Professional Skateboarder and CEO of AMP Skate, Brandon DesJarlais.
Brandon is not only a pro skater, business owner and visual artist, but is also a social media expert. I met Brandon in Venice Beach, California shortly after moving to LA. He converted a school bus, now known as the SHRED SLED, which serves as both his full time residence and means of transportation for his cross country skate tours. I learned many things from our conversation(s), but Brandon really helped me understand the importance of creating a community. Brandon hosts weekly skate meetups in LA and has created a literal following of fans and dedicated riders that support his vision of a global skate community. He has shown me how influential branding can be and how you can create a successful venture literally anywhere (even from a school bus).
